Keaton needs his annual heartworm blood test in a of couple months. I've been lax with continuing training at home to ensure his comfort with the procedure at our veterinary clinic—Nottely Oaks Animal Hospital, a fear-free certified practice. The clinic is a great support in this training process. Here's a video of last year's blood draw.
My schedule has been overly busy, so I haven't been training at home or continued the monthly training visits with the vet tech at the vet clinic. It's time to remedy that.
I just scheduled an appointment to practice mock no-restraint blood draws at the clinic, which I used to do with Keaton and also with my former girl, Cailie. Practice makes possible.
I filmed many home training sessions when I worked with Cailie. Feel free to search our YouTube Channel for "blood draw" or "cooperative care" to see some of our at-home training and training sessions filmed at the vet clinic.
Pro-active cooperative vet care for the win!
Outstanding! I'm working on this type of blood draw protocol for & with my dog. You have given me additional ideas. Thank you!
